Suffering from decades of headaches and depression, I needed most of my energy to survive. But the music always pulled me up by the "thin thread", hugged me and comforted me. When I could hardly stand the pain any longer, I numbed myself with poisonous electric guitar solos. Then I would dive into another world.

Don't go mad
During my near-death experience, the orange-yellow wafting circular figure murmured to me: "Stay!". My serious inline skating accident shortly afterwards brought me back down to earth in the truest sense of the word. A few weeks later, during my walk by the lake, I finally discovered the corpse that everyone was so frantically searching for. I will never forget my pulse and heartbeat at the sight. Just don't go mad now. - This was the beginning of my spiritual path.

Speaking plainly
When you're over 60, you realize what's important in life. You have experienced, felt, seen and heard so much - stories that life has written. You start to categorize it, but to weigh it less. You suddenly realize that perhaps these stories could also be interesting for other people, awaken and inspire them - perhaps for you. But, as is often the case in life, someone has to speak up - in my case it was my two grown-up daughters. They encouraged me to welcome my beloved music fully into my life.

Let’s dive in
Twenty of my own songs bubbled out of me. The spring sought its way through hard layers of rock and finally found what it was looking for. The result is my first album "CHARLES ROMEO - FROM THE INSIDE OUT". I call it "Bittersweet Folk". Join me on a dive into the depths of the human psyche.
